‘The first victims’, clay stop-motion
After all the students in my class at the art academy sculpted a clay statue with a model as reference, I decided to collaborate with another student to make this film. This project was very different than my other works but a fun thing to try regardless.
The movie follows My clay sculpture (in the front) being torn apart using stop-motion (which was very fun to do in between the frames). Eventually the sculpture in the back made by the other student gets destroyed as well revealing both of the inner wooden supports used while sculpting the busts earlier. A high quality camera was used making the images high resolution.
the 18th of June 2025 I retrieved the file for this movie and the individual frames using the diskstation at the academy, wanting to document this project on this website.
this project was very different to what I usely make, The meaning of the film is also open to interpretation. However the process of destroying the sculpture was very enjoyable.
